Happy to have our boy back...

...it was a trying week for our protagonist.

After the Super Bowl, Austin developed what seemed to be a significant respiratory bug. He had a great difficulty breathing Monday morning and required nebulizer treatments for the better part of 3 days. Fortunately, by Thursday, he was acting like his old self, which was good timing for Keith, who was taking the day off on Friday to take Austin out for a good 'ole "boys day out".

Well...things did not go according to plan. Twice on Thursday night/Friday morning (3:30 and 4:15), Austin vomited in bed...each time precipitated by a coughing fit from his left over respiratory issues. It really sucked to have to clean him and his bedding twice, but we figured that his issues mostly stemmed from a gag reflex the was elicited when he was coughing.

On Friday morning, Austin was tired but seemed to be in a pretty good mood...consistent with the notion that his vomiting was cough-induced. Keith decided to let Austin catch up on some lost sleep by napping in the car on the way to "Bounce, Fun and More" which is a place that has a bunch of inflatable bounce houses for kids to play on indoors. This seemed like a great idea until Austin again began coughing in the car...and with a strong cough followed about 2 cups of sour, half-digested milk with some once-dry cereal. Thankfully, Keith had only driven about 1.5 miles from home, so it was a quick ride back to get cleaned up.

After a much needed bath...Austin's temperature began to rise and within a few hours, he was at 103 degrees. There was little question now that his stomach issues were less related to coughing and more a result of some kind of bug...a bug that, thankfully, lasted only 24 hours. For the rest of Friday, he slept for 3.5 hours, ate only dry cereal and drank only water. By the time he went bed, his fever was down to 100 and it would stay down all through the day Saturday.

Even though his fever was gone, and he was eating better Saturday (1.5 waffles for breakfast)...his mood was still a bit subdued and he was a little bit more cuddly than usual. By the time he woke from his second nap, his mood was much improved (as evidenced by his "pie-making" video...but he was still fatigued and was especially cranky when he went to bed.

When he awoke this morning, however, all was to normal...and as the title states...we're happy to have our back.
