Austin has been fussing with the baby cereal...sure he is old for the stuff, but we had been continuing to give it to him per our pediatrician's recommendations due to the vitamins and minerals in the baby cereal.
Well...he no longer likes the stuff, so we have officially transitioned from Cheerios as finger food to Cheerios as a meal with milk and utensils.
He took to it like a champ...and (surprisingly) didn't spill the milk from his spoon!
Since we have been at Chittenango, we have seen our fair share of natural beauty including wonderful sunsets and brilliant rainbows, but nothing compares to the spectacle from last Friday.
We took video, albeit blurry and not always crisp (then converting stuff to Flash makes it even worse), of the electrical storm that we observed along the northern skyline. It was amazing to watch as there was lightning flash after flash lighting the clouds and sky without a single "bolt" touching ground or even he slightest hint of thunder. It really was "nature's fireworks". We only have about 10 minutes of footage, but the storm lasted for longer than 90 minutes.
We have never seen anything like it, but we hope that we it again one day...it was really, really something to behold.
A movie perhaps? Maybe you ate a nice dinner. Played with the kids? Whatever you did, it probably wasn't as interesting and unique an experience as what Keith, Christine, Kevin and Peggy did last night.
We went to a roller derby!!!
That's right, witnessed a bunch of tough and prideful women on skates beating the heck outta each other for the sheer fun and enjoyment of competition. The jammers were moving through the pack taking their licks while the rest of the girls did their best to clear the way. We had our doubts about the events ability to entertain, but the Jenneral of Destruction (each girl has her own "stage" name) had told us it would be awesome...and it certainly did not disappoint.
There is a video below of some clips we took personally...but it really doesn't do the sport justice...especially when some of the bigger hits took place when our camera wasn't rolling.
So...why the cry at the end? He was running by the sofa table and grazed the side of his head on the corner. It kinda spooked him more than anything else.
On the weekend of the 4th of July, Christine and Austin traveled to NJ to visit family at the shore. As your author wasn't there in person, he asked Christine to type a blog posting that she hasn't had any time to complete. Therefore...I present to you a story in videos.
