So as the story is told by Christine: She was sitting on the floor with Austin seated in her lap. Within her own arm's reach was a box of cereal (Yogurt Cheerios) that she was digging into for her own breakfast. Austin, apparently had enough of watching her do all the eating, so he lurched forward from sitting, onto his belly--purposefully knocking over the box and liberating a large quantity of Cheerios from their captivity. With the opportunity presenting itself, he scooped one up and put it in his mouth. Well...that was it, he is now eating Cheerios. He knew what to do naturally: gumming it down until it was a nasty looking, gelatinous goo prior to swallowing it down and reaching for another.
So, because we frown upon eating off of the floor, we scooped him up and placed him in the high-chair, dusted off the tray (which we hadn't needed to utilize until today), and gave him some Cheerios. He had about 6-7 of them, only 3 of them were brought to his mouth successfully on his own...the other 4 he needed some help to prevent him from getting to frustrated.
How would he get frustrated you ask? He was relying on the saliva on his hands to act as Velcro and fasten the "O" to his hand as he brought it to his mouth rather than grasping it between his fingers, but unfortunately, as he would turn his palm over...gravity would more often win the battle resulting in a slobbery Cheerio falling back to the tray or plummeting to the floor. We didn't want to go too crazy giving him more than the handful that we did, because we simply didn't have the time...it took him 90-120 seconds to gum down each individual "O". But the little extra time was nice, providing the overzealous parents with opportunities to take pictures with the camera and take videos with 2 separate machines...one video is below. Enjoy!!

I think the kid would be more successful if you gave him more than 6 at a time!!!!
Well...we didn't have many to give him after he dumped most of them on the floor and most of the remaining O's had yogurt on them!!!
