You've been waiting: The Austin Update

Hopefully, you have been keeping up with the web album the last week or so...we have been updating that section a little more than the actual blog. Here are the highlights of the last month:

• Austin visited the pediatrician for his latest round of shots on Tuesday, May 13th. He was not happy to get the injections, but he was very good for the rest of the appointment up until the point in time (no pun intended) that she actually had to give him the shots. His measurements were as follows:
• Head Circumference: 45 cm (75th percentile)
  
• Length/Height: 27.5 inches (90th percentile)
  
• Weight: 18 pounds, 5 ounces (75th percentile)
• He was really cranky for a full weak after his shots. We couldn't figure out why...was it the shots? He hadn't been having as frequent movements as he had grown accustomed to; was he constipated? Nope....teething. About 1 week later, his first tooth broke through the gums on the bottom left.
  
  



• He is getting ready to crawl. Some of you experienced parents may remember the pre-crawl phase when the babies can easily come onto all fours, but only rock forward/backward and they move backwards across an entire room. Yeah, that is Austin right now.
• He is sitting up independently now, although he sometimes will fall over backwards. If he begins to lean to either side though, he is able to catch himself to prevent him from falling over.
• His schedule remains (mostly unchanged):
• Sleeps until 5:00 am, wakes up to eat
• Back to sleep from 5:30 until 6:30 or 7:00 (if we are lucky)
• Eats at 8:00 am (first the natural way, then cereal with fruit (homemade, pureed)
• Nap for about 1.5 hours from 9:00 to 10:30 (no more 2+ hour naps providing Daddy with extended internet time)
  
• Goes to work with Daddy around Noon...Mommy meets him there to get fed [again naturally first-that is why Mommy is there-then cereal with a vegetable (again- homemade, pureed)]
• Nap at work from 1:30 to 3:00
• Mommy arrives by 3:15 to bring him home
• Eats again at 4:30 or 5:00...usually 2 different types of veggies (yep- homemade and pureed)
• To bed at 7:00 pm
• We wake him up to eat only at 10:00 pm, and put him back down for the night (he refuses to eat before he goes down at 7:00)
