SURPRISE!

Thursday morning (at around 4:30 am), Keith and Christine were lying in bed and heard Austin start to stir and make some noise. It is usually parental false hope that with a few pats on the back that Austin will fall back asleep and allow at least one of his parents an extra few minutes of very precious sleep. On this particular morning, it was Keith's turn...

...So, Keith rolls out of bed, expecting to find a fidgety baby writhing in the crib, which is what has come to be expected over the last few months. So you can imagine Keith's surprise, when Austin had learned to move into sitting from lying on his stomach. Before this time, he has done so a few times by accident, but it had never seemed purposeful. Since this event, Austin has been seen to move to and from the sitting position from his hand/knees with increased frequency and purposefulness. As the wide eyes in the picture might say...Austin was not in the mood to return to sleep this particular morning, so it was Daddy's turn to lose sleep while Mommy caught up on some much needed rest.
