Long time between postings

It was a very slow and uneventful week to start off. Christine, once again, worked Monday and Tuesday. Although she missed Austin, she was (understandably) much more comfortable with working this week than she was last week.

The first real eventful thing of note was Thursday's scheduled visit to the pediatrician. She took all of his measurements...
  • Head: 41 cm (50th percentile)
  • Weight: 13 pounds, 11 ounces (75th percentile)
  • Length/Height: 24 3/4 inches (90th percentile)
Apparently Christine is feeding him very well!!

But, as is traditionally the case, we were visiting the doctor for more than measurements: It was time for Austin's first set of shots. In one leg, he was to receive a super-shot (of sorts) for Diphtheria, Polio, Tetanus, and a couple other things. Via mouth, he received an immunization for the Rotavirus. In his other leg, he received 2 shots for meningitis. Yes he cried. Yes, Christine cried. Keith did not.

When he came home he slept during the afternoon, as is customary. After waking up, his temperature had elevated about 2 degrees, so Christine gave him a little bit of Tylenol. He ended up going down for another smaller nap in the afternoon, and woke up to eat at about 5 pm. By the time Christine finished feeding him, Austin's expected metamorphosis into an evil and angry child was complete. Nothing could stop this incredibly powerful force of angst and bombast. As the story goes, Austin pretty much screamed his lungs out (like Christine had never heard before) until he went to sleep at around 7:30.

But here is the good news....he slept until around 2 am, then fell back to sleep after eating. This time he didn't wake up until 8 am. Let it be noted, however, that when he did wake up, he was his usual, happy and smiling self. He was so much like himself, that Christine didn't hesitate in following up with plans to visit the Belasco girls in Summit.
