This is my final week of school, and I have been cramming to get my last and final paper completed. It will be finished by Monday, and then all of my doctoral work will be DONE!
As a result of my spending so much of my time on the computer writing, researching, and editing my paper, there has been little time to keep everyone updated as to our comings and goings this week...I offer you my sincere apologies.
Visitors this week included Katie D. and Diane. Christine reported that Austin was very well behaved and was friendly towards the girls (and surprisingly, so was Moxy--although, in all fairness, our standards are pretty low when it comes to her behavior).
Monday was picture day: Christine has always had a dream of how she would pose her first baby for his/her first christmas picture (I am not allowed to share her idea, she wants everyone to see it the first time when you get your christmas cards)...so we spent a portion of the morning preparing Austin for his big first christmas picture and the results were fairly positive. Hope you like 'em when you get 'em.
On Tuesday, Austin went to the doctor's office for his 4 week check-up. He measured 38 cm in head circumference (50th percentile), weighed 9 pounds, 14 ounces (50th percentile), and 22 inches in height/length (75th percentile). When he was born his head was 34.5 cm, weight was 7 pounds, 1 ounce and his height/length was 20 inches. The doc said that he is a very healthy boy and to keep doing what we (as parents) are doing, because it seems to be working.
To date, Austin has now spent 2 evenings at the Achieve office with good success. On both occasions, I had only one patient (who is very friendly) at 7:30, so Christine has been able to drop him off with me and go shopping/run errands. In both instances, I put him in a front-side carrier and worked with him strapped into me for 60-90 minutes...both times he fell asleep.
This morning, we had a photographer come into the house and take some baby portrait shots. We would have preferred to have taken Austin to a studio, but the doctor (and friends) recommend not taking him into larger public places (and apparently large department stores and malls qualify as "public places"). So, the photographer came in and spent about 60-70 minutes here between set-up, pictures and clean up. He was incredibly efficient and Christine says that he got some very good shots (she saw the previews in his digital SLR camera).
Ok, that is about it for now...expect more "regular" updates starting again next week!
Hope everyone has a very nice weekend,
Keith
